Our Story

Born from a crisis.
Built on hope.

In 2009, the conflict in Swat left thousands of children without parents and without a future. Parwarish was founded to change that — one child at a time.

The Beginning

35 children. One house. A promise.

In 2009, as military operations swept through Swat Valley, hundreds of thousands of families were displaced. Among the most vulnerable were children who had lost one or both parents - left without shelter, food, or the possibility of an education.

Muhammad Tariq, a local teacher who had seen the devastation first-hand, opened his doors. What began with 35 children crowded into a single house grew, slowly and steadily, into what Parwarish is today - a fully operational care facility supporting over 265 children.

The name Parwarish (پرواریش) means “upbringing” or “nurturing” in Urdu. It was chosen deliberately, because this is not just a shelter. It is a home.
