Fatima's Story
“Learning to dream again.”

Three years ago, Fatima could barely read. With dedicated tutoring and patient teachers, she is now writing poems and has discovered a love for science.
When Fatima joined Parwarish three years ago at nine, she was significantly behind her peers academically — not from lack of intelligence, but from years of interrupted schooling and no one to help her catch up.
Our education team assessed her immediately and created an individual learning plan. Two of our tutors worked with her in small groups, building her reading and numeracy foundations step by step. They were careful never to shame her for what she didn't know — only to celebrate every step forward.
The breakthrough came when a staff member introduced a poetry writing session as part of a creative afternoon. Fatima wrote a poem about the river near her village. It was raw and beautiful, and she read it aloud to the whole group, barely believing her own words.
"Nobody had ever asked me what I thought before," she said afterwards.
Today, Fatima reads voraciously. She has developed a deep love for science and tells anyone who will listen that she wants to be an environmental engineer. Her poems are still written in a notebook she keeps beside her bed.
